Feast of the Immaculate Conception

On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8th, we carry all of our heirloom seeds into the church where they are blessed. The Immaculate Conception marks the time of abundant fertility in the lineage of Jesus. The perfect seed is passed on from within Mary's womb.

When seed companies like Monsanto genetically engineer seeds, they often genetically engineer them so they do not reproduce seeds year after year. As Vandana Shiva says, when the Seed Corporations bless their seeds they say, "let this seed be terminated so profits may be abundant." And the heirloom seedling grower says, "let this seed be fruitful and multiply, so harvest will be abundant. "

We made this video of saving and blessing our heirloom seeds on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
